Construction works at the Cherrywood Luas station are scheduled to take place over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
These construction works will necessitate the temporary closure of Brides Glen, Cherrywood and Laughanstown Luas stops for 3 days over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend – Saturday 20 April, Sunday 21 April and Monday 22 April.
A free replacement bus service will run on the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday between Brides Glen and Carrickmines serving all closed stops. Buses will run approximately every 15 minutes from temporary stops adjacent to the Luas stops at Brides Glen, Cherrywood, Laughanstown and Carrickmines.
This temporary closure of 3 Luas stops is to facilitate the widening of Bishop Street Luas track crossing, as part of the Hines Cherrywood Town Centre Development project. This work is an essential first step in opening up the public parks to the local community. These works include the repositioning of the Luas Overhead Catenary System, the cable system which provides power to the trams. It is necessary to shut off power to the Luas in this area to safely complete these works, thus a section of the Luas line will be closed.
These works will be completed over the Bank Holiday weekend to minimise disruption to the travelling public. It is our intention that these works will be carried out in their entirety and fully completed over this 3-day period.
These works will not affect the rest of the Luas Green Line. However, there will be some Luas service alterations over the Easter Weekend. This includes a temporary closure of the Green Line between St. Stephen’s Green and Dominick stops to accommodate the Easter Parade. See www.luas.ie for full information.
For residents living in the immediate vicinity of Tullyvale, Gleann na Rí and Druids Valley, every effort will be made to minimise the impact of these works. While they may result in elevated noise levels outside of normal working hours, these will be contained utilising a series of mitigation measures including padded noise barriers and additional temporary noise barrier walls.
